2012 Ranger 3.2 P0089 Help please - sparky001 - 07-12-2023

Hi,
My BT-50/Ranger died last Friday. I trace the issue to low fuel pressure - suspect high pressure pump. Fitted new high pressure fuel pump today, primed fuel, crank & started - Woohoo. - Ran great for about 10-15 seconds, then started to smoke & pink. Left it to run for a couple of mins thinking it would improve. It did not. Shut down Engine, try to restart - Fail - low fuel pressure again, start with little eng start - runs. Check fuel pressure at idle via Forscan - 12000kpa - it spikes to 20000+kpa & runs nice. But mostly smokes and pinks. What have I missed, old pump is toast, all 3 springs have broken. Will log P0089 - Fuel pressure regulator

Help please

Cheers

Update - when the high pressure pump failed - debris from the broken springs passes through to the injectors - causing them to jam in the open position causing low fuel pressure.
An expensive experience, all running again
