Make virgin BMW CAS3 - Czozen - 20-07-2015

Hi,

I have read about it, but there are a lot of disinformation about it.

Can anyone help with this?

I'm trying to put used CAS3 to other car. Need to work with original DME and Keys. Just like when you are buying a brand new CAS from BMW A.G. and program it into car with ISTA/P.

1. What tools do i need to dump eeprom?
2. What do i need to clear in dump file. (VIN and what else?)

Thank you CT community! smile

The CAS is never virgin, it is supplied programmed with the key codes from BMW's database.

To use one on a different car, you will need something like an R270, read the eeprom, modify the VIN and also implant the ISN from your DME.
You might be able to get the ISN from the old CAS, otherwise you might need to get a full (BDM / Tricore) read of your ECU.
There are some OBD tools that should read the ISN from your DME ECU, but very expensive.

I did as You said.
Everything works fine now smile EEPROM and Flash read and write with R270+

Hi
Is there a guide as to where in the dump are the VIN and the ISN etc?

I have a bricked CAS3 that the power failed to while programming. I have an xprog-m on order so will try to read out the chip contents. I just need to know what I need to extract from the CAS3 to put into another dump file to put back on it.
I have tried every method I could find to get the CAS going including ISTA-P, Winkfp, NFS etc. but it always comes back as ecu not responding. It has also been sent away to a "specialist" who utterly failed to get it going.

The VIN is easy, it is written in ASCII, so load the eep file into a hex editor and you will see it in the side bar.
There is usually an 8bit additive checksum for data in the eeprom, so add up all the hex digits in the VIN and this number will be written at the end.

The ISN is harder to find, I have just collected a lot of CAS eep files with a known ISN, and then search for it in the eep file.
If I ever see a similar eep file, I can then spot which number is the ISN.
There are different eeprom formats, so it need experience to compare and find the ISN.

I don't have experience of the 16b ISNs or what to do with them in the newer CAS types.

Very useful information!

You were lucky, the CAS you used is not encrypted.
In case it was CAS3+, no way to clone such things by a cheap programmer, you will need a tool that can make keys and read DME ISN, and copy FA from LM to CAS.
I have Autohex II, and I used it in E65 to E93 (2014).
