Today i have tested my clone on Stra J 2014 and it's another problem.
It won't communicate with engine module, do not read VIN.
Decided to return it to the seller.
Now I need to find something more useful, any sugestions?

if you work on alot of vauxhall and so on, then i would suggest you buy a genuine cable like the Mongoose pro or MDI

I've been considering Mongoose but reed somwhere support from Drewtech it's very poor, also Mongoose it self not very good.

What support do you need mate
Why do you said its not good?
Its accepted by the GM and it covers all the function of GM MDI for GM/Opel
But you cannot use it as a full J2534 tool with other softwares as Toyota Techstream, JLR SDD, Honda HDS, Nissan Consult3+ or other softwares that support J2534 tools
What I don't know is if it cover CH-CAN but in the rest its ok
I suppose you had a bad luck or your clone its poor one.
I had in my hands a clone GM MDI of a friend. Its working with lastest Tech2win cars softwares and with the lastest GDS2 Opel and Chevrolet
Also we tested SPS Programming at my desk
All work good and it has the commen serial
If I will be in your place I will try to change the GM MDI with other one from other supplier first and if you do not want this and also if you do not want to spend the money on a genuine GM MDI I will consider to buy a GM Mangoose PRO2 - My opinion

I agree with Mattydr. I have, not a verry expencive clone of MDI, and work's like a charm.
Avdi ? Not a bad tool, but very expensive for a personal car. And it works for 90% of mdi.
It is your call, but I believe that the tool, is not the problem ...
Just a opinion.

Till I bought my genuine MDI I have used an AVDI with Tech2Win/GDS2/SPS Programming
At me it hasn't any issues. Worked well. It is a choice as it was for me at the beggining.

Because muy customers when they saw that I do a diagnostic in their cars using an AVDI even I'm using original software they have no so much faith.
So I decided to buy a genuine tool and they pay now double price for same thing.
To come back to your question. Its a marketing decision. I didn t sold my AVDI. I still use it with other OEM softwares as JLR SDD, Techstream, HDS, SSM III. And from time to time with GDS2 and Tech2Win too.
