After spending fewwwwww hours trying to combat StarFinder on Windows 7 x64 + googling ............. reading ........ i found a simple way .....
I hope it works for you too,
Instructions are vary simple....
NO NEED for CAD/SVG viewer software to be installed, too view wiring diagrams
so far tested on following versions 2008/v2/2010/2015/2016

EDIT(02.Nov.2016):
I tried installing on another system and it gave me few troubles not wanting installing so i went another route
Download Whip.cab File (make sure you unblock file after download)
Make Folder whip in c:\
(root directory, to by pass access denied for copying files)
Then unzip to C:\whip\ and copy all files to c:\windows\system32\
(if some files are not been able to be copied, then open taskmanager and start killing processes one by one until it will allow you to copy it)
Then left click on whip.inf and select install
Then unzip again in C:\whip\ and copy it again to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
(if some files are not been able to be copied, then open taskmanager and start killing processes one by one until it will allow you to copy it)

on another system it gave me error that it required to have IE 5 or higher
I uninstalled IE 11, restarted windows and it started working
