Hello dear community,

First of all i really love this forum it thought so many about cars, diagnostics, car software etc etc.

i have a project car like the title says a VW Polo 6N2 1.9 SDI 2000.
its my old car and i would like to chiptune it but i dont know how.

what do i need to read the ECU?
what do i need to modify it?
what do i need to write the modified ECU?

i want to do this pure for fun and educational purpose.
i already have an obd2 reader and my car does not have any DTC errors (yay!)

as far as i know its the same engine as a 1.9 tdi
does that mean i can install a turbo without worrying about pressure and boost in the engine?

hi,

for reading / writing map any mpps version (only if you have flash installed on ECU)
for modify map winols,ecm2001,ecmtitanium,EDCsuite.
if you want to install turbo you need to change injection pump,install intercooler, and engine decompression (SDI has higher compression rate than TDI)
it's much easier to get TDI engine and play and learn

You may need for read and write, KESS V2 5.017 EU red PCB led no token limit and /or Ktag 7.020 and /or FGTech 0475 v54 Galletto 4 and /or MPPS 16 /18. This is what I've been suggested and I use as many others. For V. A. G I only use VCP PRO legally licensed..
For modification you can use Winols and /or ECM Titanium for instance... 
For your turbo question... No! You can't change to whatever without worrying about it!

i used obd auto doctor with an obd2 to usb cable
do i need a special cable to read and write the ecu?

You need a special OBD2 cable and software. They usually came together like Kess V2, FGTech 0475 Galletto 4, MPPS etc
If you want to learn and do the tuning by yourself, then be very careful... Because out of knowledge, you will damage your engine
