Hi guys,

after 3 days searching around the web how to update my CIC navigation without buying FSC codes and the maps I landed here to ask you some questions.

I need Road map europe Premium 2018 EAST, can I just use this one map and install it or all 3 maps? (west, center)?

What hardware do I need to read the codes for the FSC generator and should I use the this generator?

Can I brick something? Bsc I read some other posts where they asked for some repair fsc codes or something.

I appreciate any help!

You can only install one map at the time. But the FSC codes for East and West are the same so you can change between them, but you will have to upload the map everytime. (1hour 15 min each time, via usb).

You need an ENET cable to read the enabling codes from your headunit to use with the fsc generator here on the forum. (1B).

You would be extremely unlucky to brick something with trying to update maps and reading fscs as you dont do any actual coding or programming to the headunit. You should be safe.

Repair codes are used mainly for two things by people here:

Making navigation update codes without having to connect to the car at all, as the fsc codes you are reading out of the headunit to make the update code, is also included in the repair kit. See screenshot.

For example if you want to obtain a navi update code from me because you are unable to do it yourself (or other reason), and you live a long way away from me, I can request a repair kit and then use the codes provided to generate update code for you.

The other is when programming of the headunit has failed, often the fsc codes in the headunit are deleted/rejected and then you need to import and enable these in order to make the fsc protected functions work again. I.e navigation, voice control, bmw apps etc.

thank you for your replies. I ordered the Enet cable but there was no free software working with Windows 10. So thank you @Twoone for the USB Trick. It worked well with the FSC generator. Now I have the newest version.

Do I have to buy the Gini because it needs a license text?
