Hello friends,
Is there any chance to register a standard AGM battery on a BMW M3 F80, instead of the Li-Ion, factory fitted, one? The battery was replaced with a AGM one, and now ISTA/D shows "Battery module missing". I know that the Li-Ion battery doesn't need a IBS sensor, as the electronics are included in the battery itself. My question is...is it possible to install a IBS sensor, and register a AGM battery?

I can't tell you about BMW battery coding. I bought a new battery 6 months ago, as the OEM is 9 years old.

I checked the original coding to see what is said using VCDS.

I couldn't find anything listed. It shows the battery number which you use for coding. There is no useful number on the battery.

So, right now, with the AGM battery ISTA/D shows "Battery module missing". As I know, the Li-Ion battery has the electronic board incorporated. I think that's the error that ISTA/D it shows. Cand you please, guide me how can i code a standard AGM battery and get rid of the "Battery Module Missing" errror? I have ESYS installed on my laptop.

Get an ibs sensor, connect it as it have to be. And manually code fem, dme module, try to search something about battery there. Btw what unit is complaining with this error?

DME ecu throws that error. Ok, so i have connected the donnor IBS to the car, and code with carly a 90 Ah AGM battery. Now, i don't have the "battery module missing" error, but I get a permanent notification of rapid battery discharge on navigation screen. No matter if the engine is turned on or off.

Did you register the battery exchange? In ista - service function - chassis battery exchange

Ista doesn't let me register a agm battery. When i select battery register, it says that the installed battery(detected) is not a li-ion battery and the registration can not continue.

Any exact parameters? Ibs replaced?
