I am trying to replace ecu in 2014 Golf GTI 2.0l TFSI CHHB with a 2nd hand unit. I have used odis to adapt the immobilizer with no problems. The vehicle starts and runs but has a feww codes about wrong coding. I am unable to do any coding because i get the error ERP0617E meaning it has the wrong software compared to the vw server. How do i find what the original software was when the original ecu is u/s? It has software 5G0906259C version 2 on it now but i don't know what the original was. First, decipher the VIN by PR-codes, this will allow you to create a file for ETKA. In ETKA, you can view which original control unit you had.

5G0906259C was the original.. Maybe it got updated to the newer software at a dealership later on.

5G0906259P flash seems to be compatible with your ECU (at least by flash file idents) - you can try your luck with this file too.
