Was this issue ever resolved? It is useful to revert if a problem is solved as it helps many other members in similar situations. I have a car with intermittent low pressure warning light flicker ONLY AT IDLE or as it slows to idle. Fault code is "engine oil pressure static, static, static". E90 N43 engine. Not tested pressure mechanically yet but....

1. At idle, oil pressure is 2000mbar as per DME readings. Specified idle oil pressure should be about 2600mbar at idle. Obviously something is wrong
2. Rev it and hold at 2000rpm, I get smack bang 5000mbar, almost middle of specified range at this rev level.

Three things on this system, pump, sensor, regulator. Not sure how this regulator works but could it be that at idle speed it is disabled and closed? If then it is stuck open, there would be low pressure and DME would be helpless to help? That is the best guess I can make.

I am thinking of getting a regulator from another car to test. Any different ideas?

Good lord. Excessive wear allowing too much oil loss? Would I not also get early stage knocking ( taka taka taka) sounds at start up?

Any possibility of failing pump as well? If intervention will involve dropping the sump will check bearings and pump.
