Steering Wheel Angle Sensor (G85) Problem
Hey guys
Does anyone have a clue how to change the values in the Steering Wheel Angle Sensor (G85) in VCDS? When my steering wheel is stright it shows in VCDS that is in 360 degrees. How can I change it to 0 degrees? I need step-by-step direction how to correct this error. Hope there's someone that can give me a helping hand here. Thanks in advance guys |

I just figured out that I need to remove the steering and move the sensor ring to 0 degrees, and then I will use VCDS if that is nessesary after I have moved the ring. Tomorrow I will have a friend that will help me to remove the steering since I don't have the right tools. Thanks for your kind help |

RE: Steering Wheel Angle Sensor (G85) Problem
Difficult to get a used one which works properly because there is no safety (it is removed after SW bolt is torqued) and if rotated beyond a certain point it will malfunction.
I got a new one for my B8 (purchased from UK) but did not retrofit yet, since my old one got repaired after VCDs re-calibration. |

I have now adjusted the sensor ring with VCDS running while I was moving the plastic ring. I took off cables from batteries and waited for 1 hour. After that I unplugged the airbag and plugged back the cable to the battery since I need to use VCDS so I can see the angle is correct. I turned around the ring 2 times till it showed 0.0 degrees. Then I put everything back and no more fault codes comes up after I have tried to drive the car. Only thing I need to do it correct the wheel so it is stright forward. |

SW alignment will sort out your issue. Let me know how well SW spring works after alignment and if any errors appear due to possible angle limits exceeded.
