Its an 05 astra 1.7 cdti.

I may be able to read/write over obd with mpps v16 or v18 or gellato 1260.

All I want to do is disable the egr.

I have learnt bdm100 is probably the safest method, which I may do as I can solder, but honestly i really cba.

is this edc16c9 or edc16c39?

For future reference how would I identify this myself?

Also any tips for finding what to edit to disable the egr on my flash file would be a bonus. I know I could give the file to someone to do but would rather do it myself.

If EDC16C9 only way , the best and safest is BDM..

So c9 defo cant be done over obd? Thought id read elsewhere it can be done, but honestly not certain.

Seems a bit of a faff to break the seal on the ecu every time I want to edit it. I may have to come up with an alternative plan for blanking the egr, maybe even unblanking it.

The car is going into limp mode due to the egr error.

Can a car have 2 ecu's setup for it at once if only one is powered with the car at a time?

My idea is to purchase the exact hardware of ecu and set it up as if I was replacing it. Then should something go wrong, I still have the original good to go.

Also is there a safe way to write over obd once I have a full bdm backup from opening the ecu?
