So E61 2004 with M54 engine has bad AFS module (hardware fault). The car has AFS60, does the replacement haveto be AFS60 or can AFS70 be used? Since the label on the module doesn't say which on it is, it's not easy to find replacement.

AFS70 and the newest version with AFS90 is compatible with LCI models, thus you better look for the control units with hw-numbers listed above. Not sure if a module with AFS70/AFS90 can be downgraded to AFS60.
