RE: xDrive - Modification of the drive distribution through coding.
Done - ask me anything.
Just joined and wanted to chime in here since this thread helped me out in doing an esys-only RWD conversion. Disclaimer: I have an iDrive8 G42 (2023). I know nothing about the F series. I was able to edit my VO's typeschlussel to be that of a RWD variant. Then generate NCDs for the DSC_BRS and DSC_VIP_IB4. In my car doing both of these are important. Doing only one causes errors yielding a "Drive Carefully. Chassis Stabilization." message; and also hurts the integrity of the physics calculations the DSC algorithms use. All in all about 50-70 settings are different. In what I presume to be an "Undefined Parameter" in ProTool, there is a series of hex bytes that represent your typeschlussel in ASCII. This is likely one of the things that results in the "Coding not valid for AWD vehicle." error I was getting while trying to do this all by hand. The DSC_BRS module is protected with certain signature validations (??) on the SWFL/SWFK which I'm assuming are similar to locking my DME. Beware, you're probably blowing e-fuses and forget about your entire warranty when doing this. "For real, real." Assume it's gone. Period. I've swapped XD/RWD three times and I've driven (HARD) every day in exclusively RWD config for the last ~month. In all three DSC modes. Rain, shine, dry, snow, subzero. Zero errors, codes, or warnings: I am not even an expert. I had about two days of coding experience to make this happen. Please be more respectful....... There is an option in the ZF 8HP-51 for AWD and I don't notice an effect with/without it. Perhaps a torque limiting system to keep axles from snapping...? Cheers. |
