E46 -Interior lights stay on with battery negative disconnected!
I was doing valve seal change on an E46 and someone in trying to disconnect the battery somehow shorted the positive to body briefly.

Now the interior lights stay on even if negative is disconnected. Electricals is not my strong point but I don't see what is causing this. Any leads what I can look for? I thought a short circuit to earth but is that earth not vehicle body terminating at negative terminal?

Id appreciate if anyone had a hunch what is going on.

If I would be you, I would shut-up and never tell to someone that my BMW started to generate electricity from air because them zombies will kill you fast... Hahahaha moreove connect your house vary fast to your E46 and stop paying electrical bills...

Try hard reset or start looking for a wire isolation been melted down and touching each other or star unplugging / replacing lcm gm etc

If any of my posts or current one helps then don't forget to press thanks and add a reputation thankyou

RE: E46 -Interior lights stay on with battery negative disconnected!
How can they stay on when power source is removed? That means there is another source and you probably fried something.

Back in E38 I had Webasto and it had a second small battery for its operation which was disconnected from the rest of a car (except for charging), but if you fried something, it can be always on.

Anyway there must be a second power source if lights stay on and you need to find it. Then follow from there. When they stay on are they on full brightness?

biggrin Madness this one. Everything else seems to work ok except these ghost lights. Makes very little physical sense to me. Checked all fuses at the glove box. All ok. Will; check those at the rear.

Yes they seem to be at normal brightness. I must disconnect both terminals for them to go off. Ill try disconnect positive only and see.
