Hi,

Retrofitting Top Rear Side View Camera $3AH to 2010 BMW X5 E70 VIN L293857


Have fitted all the hardware and HSD cables etc and have successfully coded $430 (folding Mirrors).

Started coding $3AH, added $3AH to the FA on CAS and FRM and all the modules I tried coding were OK (Kombi, RDC, IHKA) 

However, when I coded the CIC (C1A) I got this error ...

Researching for literally hours revealed that it looks as if there is a parameter error in the coding relating to the HIST_GAS_CONSUMP_SCALE_1 and when I look at that section of the trace file it looks like this ...

I am using NCS Expert with DCAN properly configured (Although it gave me dramas establishing a connection initially until I set the DCAN switch to pre 2007 cars????)
I have the 3.66 Datens copied to all the relevant folders in NCS and EDIABAS and I am at a loss on how to proceed ...

Anyone have any idea?

Is the “na” in the above trace not acceptable?
Should I change this to nicht_aktiv or to anything else?

I am baffled ... what should be simple coding within reason is giving me sleepless nights!

Any Ideas? Thanks in advance ...

You can try to open FSW_PSW.TRC in NCS Dummy and see what it allows you to set it to (and maybe try all possible combinations?)
Just remove all other lines from FSW_PSW.MAN so they get their default value.

It is with much embarrassment I reply to my own error as follows ...

The error in NCS was because I did not clear my .MAN file ... had read another ECU and used a profile “I thought” was a non manipulation profile and of course was trying to code the CIC with non conforming data ... just goes to show you need to read everything and follow it to the letter!

However, since I am careful and don’t go forging ahead and creating a disaster from an error I stopped to ask the question and answered it with my own research ... now I know exactly what each stage of NCS coding achieves and why.

It’s because of these forums I am able to enjoy the research and the fun of successful coding, it’s hours of reading sometimes but oh so satisfying when you get it right!
