What data do you mean? Rudder have ships, not cars. Are you using translator? Steering angle will work only if you put back the pulse wheel back how it was before cim was opened. There is no other solution.

I heard that the problem with the steering wheel sensor not working is solved by overwriting the processor.

I don't think so. What I do when I open these is carefuly remove the cover and mark the top of the disc. If that moves few degrees, then you cannot calibrate it.
