Normally if it reads 'ffff' then the clip is not connected to the 8 pins of the chip.
if the chip is really empty, then 'fffff' would make sense.. but then something would erase the chip. maybe a good idea to take a new chip, maybe it broken/corrupted... or something else is erasing the chip.. maybe some components nearby the chip, maybe your soldering machine touched a component or something.
I wouldnt know what else it could be..

I think the eeprom is corrupted/broken ..... because the eeprom is forgetting the data outside the dashboard... i have solder it very well ... i dont have anytoher eeprom chip ... and customer is hurry he cant wait to order it from chinese website

(afterwards you can order a 93c56 chip and sell that odometer again)

Hello i have reduce the mileage for suzuki sx4 2007
i have disassemble dash remove needle and i have desolder eeprom 93c66
i have do the mileage
the problem is that after 3 days all the needle on dashboard stop to work and the word error appear on screen .... i have desolder again the eeprom and resolder it ...same problem the car run well for 2-3 day and after the same error on dash i have do it 3 times ...what do you think the problem is ??? do you think the eeprom is damaged or something else?
i will appreciate any help
