Choosing a first chiptuning programmer
Hello everyone, I have been reading this forum for some time and now I am thinking of getting into this world.

I will be doing truck and cars chiptuning but i think i should start with a slave tool first.
The trucks i am interested in are Mercedes Actros/Atego, MAN TGX/TGS, Volvo
As for the cars, primarily german cars

What would be the best tool to do cover all these makes and models?
I was looking into kess3 and found a good price for it... not sure about flex or something else?

I would be very thankful if someone could shed some light and give me advice on what would be the best first tool.

P.S. I know there is not one tool for everything and that i will probably need to buy more than one, but looking to find one for now that will give me the most coverage.

i don't recommend kess 3 you need the annual LїСёи5ё5 and the protocols which are overpriced. if you only want to edit the ecu, autotuner is sufficient. if you want to edit ecu and tcu (gearbox) then flex is better, but then you also have an annual LїСёи5ё5.

annual licence is about 500€ yea?
that is not too much tbh, primary jobs will be on the trucks tho, cars here and there...
so truck aplication is critical, i need support there, still reccomend autotuner?
I heard it's not so good with older stuff

then i recommend you autotuner so you save the annual fee for old control units it is only possible in the boot but that means for example me7.5

I just had a look on autotuner support list, only one MAN ecu sad(
not acceptable at all, only if i am mistaken and all the MAN trucks use the same ECU EDC17CV42?

What do you think about dimsport new trasdata?
afaik new trasdata is only for bench and boot? and for obd i need the new genius yea?
i don't need thru obd right now since i found some offer for new trasdata about 1700€ slave ofc but it says full protocol...
for new genius its about 1.9k€ and i would get that later if i need it.

also a very reliable tool, if the vehicles suit you, then take this. as you said it is only for the bench or boat

thanks for the answer, now i am most keen on new trasdata from dimsport as I can see many ecus for heavy duty, on some forums they say dimsport is the way to go if you do heavy duty...
what do you think about that tool?
