Best Kit for coding Mercedes old and new
Hi
Noobie to this so plz excuse. I work on 3 fleets of Mercedes 639 Vito's Sprinters 1, 2, 3, I own a 638 V Class, and also do Cars for private customers. Have latest Snap On Solus, which does me well for general diagnosis. I want to be able to do more, like coding keys and modules, don't have a monster budget, so looking at Star C3 or C4 SD Connect, with DAS / Xentry, maybe Vediamo. Chinese, around £400 mark, hopefully I can do most operations without needing subscription. Not too fussed about the wireless, but personally thought the SD Connect was better value for money ?? Any advice on these 2 systems would be much appreciated ?? Also which version of the software will do more offline work, and is the Vediamo just for latest vehicles ?? Finally I take it I need developer mode ?? Thanks in advance, Dave |

RE: Best Kit for coding Mercedes old and new
OK,
I have managed to buy a s/h hardly used, as new working system from a private seller in uk, with 100% fb............£299 and £15 p+p. Has sold his car and no need for it now Couldn't find anything like this even near that price, only hdd's with MUX and leads around £450 delivered, and then from what I have learned trawling the net, I would probably have needed help configuring them onto an existing Dell D630, not to mention the cost of putting together a decent D630, Charger and Memory Cards........at least another £100 so I reckon I got a good deal Dell D630 with 09/2014 Das Xentry 2014-08-20 Developer Mode, C3 MUX with all leads. Hopefully this will do all I need right now, and will get me familiar with the system, and then if I need to I can upgrade later. Cheers Dave |

C3 more reliable , robust I think , c4 more challenging on private use .... , coding was not fully supported , need another hardware
c5 must be supported via online connection (legally) .... happy hunting .... |

RE: Best Kit for coding Mercedes old and new
Thanks guys.
Yeah, I bought C3, see post #2 above. I'm semi retired now, but work for a local fleet owner short week, he has fleet of 639 Vito's, and Sprinters, and we also look after other local fleets, mostly Vito's and Sprinters. My own personal "Family Bus" is a mint 2002 W 638 Ambiente with all the toys, has a couple of bits I need the Star to do................Switch off EGR, (original engine had EGR, new engine fitted last year doesn't have it). I don't want EGR on there LOL. Also I only have one key, so want to program a spare on the system. Luckily I have another Ambiente here that I'm breaking, I have kept it so it's still running, so I can test my abilities and practice with the Star on that before committing to reflashing my good one LOL. Star system should arrive tommoz or Wednesday, was posted today Cheers Dave |
