RE: Remote Diagnostic
Easy. If he has ICOM, he just needs to configure his router so you can access it. If he has K(+D)CAN cable let him start ifhsrv and configure his router so you can access it. Then you put his ip address into your ediabas.ini for remote protocol and that's all.

I wish it's that simple as you sounded , ton's of ISP have all the needed ports closed unless you have static IP address . I spent months trying to complete this project and then i was told that the country I was trying to connect doesn't allow the required ports which needed , so I end up having team viewer and Virtual machine with all my tools installed , |

RE: Remote Diagnostic
Well I don't know about such countries. Can you tell me which was that just for curiosity? Else you can set the router to route different port to the required one. I don't see big problem unless ALL of incoming ports are blocked. Here you can opt in for ISP firewall protection, then maybe it would be blocked. I don't know, I haven't opted in to that. But as long as at least one port is open, you can use router to route it to the port 6801 of ediabas computer.

RE: Remote Diagnostic
It's a pain to get ISTA+ to work over VPN but I have managed it with ENET and DCAN cable.
with DCAN you need to configure ediabas on both ends + start IFH server on the client (car side), setup VPN and take both firewalls down. In ISTA, configure connection via ediabas. for ENET you need to get the car ZGW IP and port forward traffic to 6801 then connect with VPN. Configure ISTA side with easy connect to enet + VPN IP & connect ISTA with ediabas again. |

So this means, on both sides EDIABAS.INI set to the same IP for example 192.168.68.1 with Port 6801, both sides set to STD:OBD, VPN Connection via TeamViewer, start ifhsrv32.exe on the Car Side, and then I should be able to use the BMW Standard Tools on my End? |
