Yes i too had the same problem it would not recognize the car but my passthru device wasn't recognized. Change the adapter setting to COM 2 and see if that helps. For some reason that port i remember has to be set and how i set mine. Try to connect to the vehicle again after the change. It shouldn't stop on that error screen but should only give you an error about not seeing if the ignition is on.

You can also run the toyota mvci firmware update tool only to make sure it sees the cable but not to update it. I can provide the file if you don't have it and a screenshot what mine looks like if the COM 2 setting doesn't work.

I installed passthru and xdos, tried Win 7 ultimate first and had all kinds of problems. Reinstalled on Win7 pro 64bit and it works perfect.
Got one question is Xentry Simulation available in PassThry?

ok ok I understand, change the settings on com 2 and check if something will give. I will add that my interface is a Chinese mvci clone, originally purchased for the Toyota software, the interface exactly has a sticker on the mini vci j2534.  and in the attachment I send a picture of my mvci see if yours is the same.

 my interface is a Chinese mvci clone, originally purchased for the Toyota software, the interface exactly has a sticker on the mini vci j2534.  and in the attachment I send a picture of my mvci see if yours is the same.

Yes this interface works as seen referenced in the first post and also i can confirm. I too purchased a cheap clone to use with Toyota program on a Lexus. Only the obd cable using xentry passthru version so you don't have to purchase c4 mux but only has limited functionality. (I don't know how limited but does talk to the car)

No you do not have to buy xhorse...i only bought $15 mvci cable and used free xhorse mvci drivers with no problems after i got my computer to see my cable

1-install xentry pass thru with all fixes 
2-install the drivers for vci j2534 cable from the cd
3-install xhorse mvci drivers
