You dont have to read the atmega just erase it then rewrite new file to it
you dint need to remove the chip

put chip back in xprog
connect other xprog to broken xprog as been told and then erase and reprogram with 5.5.5 dumps
if you have other xprog already then you dont need to go buy a third

yes . i not remove the chip. i pinout all aready solder but i only has 5.5.0 xprog now cannot read or delate...now i just waiting new xprog 5.60 with dongle... after i get my new xprog i just can repair atmege.. thank mate ur information is important for me..

you dont read with any xprog version mate...look my pictures atached how to conect in circut, erase the chip , write files , set fuse/lock bites and yob done..you can do that with any version u want...download 5.5.1 version if you use files I attach..

mate now i erase the chip aready .. how to write the new file .. now my 5.5.0 can do it??. see the picture cannot write only can erase

you cant read atmega full dump becouse it is secured..use pinout I atached,erase whole chip,program flash/eeprom set fuse and lock bits..yob done
