Today I updated Audi A7 2011 with MMI 3G+ system. It originally had 0140 firmware which I updated to 0770. Then updated map to 2014 version. Ran the Carson hack/script and all went well - map activated and all good.

So next step was missing VIN - I took the VIN patcher from this topic (tried versions 1.0.0.3 and 1.0.0.6). First tried with 0.6 - though with showing error, it created the SD, ran the script, received texts.jar. Put the SD back to PC - opened texts.jar, pushed Patch, all ok. Then created Patch SD (I wasnt sure if to use same SD which currently had files on it already or to format ant put on the clean SD) - again with errors, seemed to add files on it. But no message on the end of process (no "OK").

Restarted MMI - result STILL NO VIN?? So tried this couple of times, same result. Just in case tested with 0.3 vesion of VINpatcher which lead me to..

THE PROBLEM - after few times trying to restore VIN MMI went crazy - lost most of the background images and menu images. It lets to choose radio, navigation and so on. But for example - car menu images are all gone. You can choose from between menu items, but you cannot see what they are.
Checked engineering menu - also without images. There are fields, but cannot see names (for example right bottom button goes to Update but no text visible).

Only thing correctly working is Hidden/Green Menu. From there its possible to adjust or select. But I did not modify anything there. Only thing I did was do remove error 03175 - add 1 to carmenuoperation elements and after that removing that 1 from all of them. Which removes that fault.


Is there any way to restore MMI back to normal state (with background images) or roll back/restore original firmware?? It should restore everything back to normal.

I say once again - this all happened after VIN-patcher. Before that and after map activation all was fine.
