As I said above, the cafds are not much help as you won't be able to do anything with them - BU / EsysUltra and the other solutions probably support these ECUs from an FDL edit POV but again, you'll not be able to actually code them.

Interesting discussion. If I may add my two cents.
CAF is one half of the entire thing, key is the other. So one cannot work without the other. NCD 2.0/3.0 can be edited like you said, and I agree that it's useless and can't be coded without the signing key.

It can be tested properly without risk by using NCD Preparation. If it succeeds, the server has the key, if it doesn't, well, tough luck. That being said, keys change all the time. What works now may not work tomorrow, so goes the cycle.

I can say as much though, that this is just facade. Reading about SP2021 should add more color to this. Older ECUs are still not that smart. I am not aware of any, not that I spent some time looking, of any ECUs that does extensive check. But I hope nobody tries or provide a solution that uses invalid keys/signature. I will never go down this route.

Aside from getting real assigned CAF keys, I have another theory in mind that involves OEM keys. I'm 90% confident.

You're likely right. I haven't bothered looking at Coding 3.0. 2.0 aren't widespread yet, not doubting that they will be, but I don't expect 3.0 to be implemented in the current gen.

I agree, well, maybe a bit faster, but nothing short of decades, if we're going by how long RSA 512/1024 got owned. RSA design is pure genius
