Essentially they are totally the same except couple of bytes written in EEPROM of FTDI chip. 120903a doesn't require HQ clones hack of FTDI chip API, instead it has its own FTDI emulator and uses a license that was banned in later versions. However, data/programming files are compatible/replaceable from future versions and they can be used without any problem if correct firmware is in the clone. Newest data/programming files require v1.59 or newer firmware. Unfortunately 120309a software only updates to v1.45 firmware. So for newer firmware you have to update it manually (which is not a problem at all, since v1.59 of firmware is floating around for quite some time). |
