For anyone who had already tried to update to ETKA 8.1 and can't finish the setup, here is a possible solution.



!!! Before you start please make a backup of you ETKA Folder !!

1. Prerequisite:  The folder "C:\ETKA\PROG\IX\" is available in your ETKA Folder.

2. Copy the contents of the folder "C:\ETKA\PROG\IX\PROG\"   to   "C:\ETKA\PROG1\" and overwrite the existing files.

3. Copy the contents of the folder "C:\ETKA\PROG\IX\DATA\"   to   "C:\ETKA\DATA\" and overwrite the existing files.

Now ETKA 8.1 should start without any problem. Maybe the solution for missing user data has to be done now.

Thanks! Followed the instructions but still ETKA on my laptop (W10 32-bits) does not update to 8.1, with the same error message (no ETKA 8 found). Any further suggestion would be much appreciated.

EDIT: Update to 8.1 successful! Not sure how it happened exactly but after following the above instructions and still getting the "no Etka8 found" error I re-ran the update exe from Etka 7.5 to 8 which was saved in my back-up files, but I did cancel the final installation step for fear of corrupting the program. Low and behold, after restarting Etka it appeared to be the updated version 8.1. 

I then ran into the issue mentioned in Post #121 (User Identification / Login Data) and fixed that with Planet-Fireball's instructions. Many thanks for that again!

All is well for now - I hope it may be of some help to those of us who face the same issue.

That is exact the same thing I did just a few minutes ago, and it seems to work out...at the moment the VW database has updated to 1242 and the Revision is 8.1 - looks good so far

I did as planet-fireball describe in post #121 ,I did everything exactly the same and on Win10 x64 works and revision is 8.1 now ,but on Win7 x64 don't work ,still 8.0.

The solution for missing user data after update to 8.1 is also working for me on Win10.

Try to re-run the update exe Etka 7.5 > 8, see my post #136. It worked for at least four people....

Did you cancel the final step in the "update" process?
You say "no Etka 7.5 Found on this Computer", so it looks like you went back from Etka 8 to Etka 7.5??

After completing all process, Etka 8.1 not executing (not opening anymore). Windows 10 64bit, tried on Windows 7 32 & 64bit both but no luck, giving a debug/close the program error.

yes did that but not working! i have delete etka complete now and than install it complet again from the begin. i hope  it work. later more info if it work

I have ETKA 8.0 ( 1243-769-775-1243 ) with Portugueses prices and don`t ask for ETKA 8.1.

ETKA 8 with German prices ask for 8.1 when i try to update to SW 1243. ETKA 8.1 is only for German ETKA ?

I use a VMware virtual machine ... maybe someone that have ETKA 8.1 working , can upload the ETKA file ?

BTW, i try the solution posted a few posts back and don`t work for me.
