You haven't informed yourself enough!

You have to install  new maps in User Defined Mode!

Do not delete in Green Menu HDD Partition and Map.
Install new map over the old map!
If you have an old map e.g. 6.27.1 you can install new map by default. But in future only user defined mode is working.
If installed map is newer, you must install new map in user defined mode

Listen: User defined mode is always better, you are on the safe side!

Note: For all actions you have to wait 4 minutes after mmi is booted, and never format the sd in quick format!

Requirement: Hidden Menu (=Green Menu) must be oben. Zip attached.
Go into Hidden Menu (Car+Menu)-->swdl-->user defined mode, click it, stay there.
Then press Car+Back, now you are in the red menu.
You will see "default" and "User defined", choose "user defined",

Do the following::

Go into ece folder with "?" in front of it and sub folders and click with "N" (go inside). After this, the letter will change to "Y"
Afterwards go back and click all folder and sub folders below, important! ece folder, do the same til to the end.
If you see folders with N/A, you can skip these, there is nothing to click.
Ca. 30-40 clicks
After finishing, scroll down and start update.

Thanks for the reply

Unfortunate, I followed the 1.7 manual, and deleted the nav partition already.

I tried exactly what you described, but it didn't work.

Now running P1001....
The ones with numbers alike, I can not get installed.....some had a number -> 0, which I understand as deleting that program....
The ones with a lower left number, I could click and get Y

Start Update was still in weak writing....

I feel something is missing in the distribution......

The upgrade to P1001 was done in 2 minutes.....should I "force update" in the firmware update?

Do I need to install activation before trying the map install?

Anyway - will try again tomorrow

(Green menu - nav - lists a map file from 2011, and in the startup of MMI, map is working....but then fails after a few minutes.)

RE: Audi MMI 3G Map 6.35.1 8R0051884KB 2022-2023
1. Run the script from the green menu to open it

1a. Install Firmware again in user defined mode, your first installation was junk!

The firmware update takes about 20-30 minutes.
For a user defined firmware update, the tick for bose must not be ticked!
If you were unlucky, your sound settings were shot up because bose was updated.
You only get the sound settings back with the software and the dongle VCP, or with Odis and dongle.
VCDS is not working, only the mentioned software.

2. Run the script from the green menu again to open it
2a. Install map in user defined mode.

3. Activate map

If you do an update without any knowledge then something like this comes out!

You can only hope that your sound settings are not gone (dull sound, left and right swapped, etc.).

Note: After a firmware update, the activation of the map is always gone, therefore your map is no longer activated and a message appears! The green menu is also closed again!

Appreciate it!

What script you refering to in 1.?

I am aware not to update Bose.

I have VCDS, and enable green menu in 5F - 10 adaptation - channel 06 -> 1

What kind of script could that be if the attached zip says "Enable Green Menu"?
You can guess 3 times.
I can not know that you have VCDS!

Btw: I would check whether the sound settings are gone and then give a short answer here!

Well ....Did the P1001 again, and there was a little option that was not upgraded, first time....The ECE map style...

No other option

Then I did a user defined upgrade  of the map, and clicked on all options who sayd N, but no boot options...only application...

Took me 1 hour 45 minutes to run the upgrade..

Bose sound is ok!

Now inside for map activation on SD card and go outside for activation.

Update:

Navigation no longer complain that it is not enabled but; I can not make a navigation route,,,just hangs on blue screen, and does not suggest any route.

Any clue?

You have to drive around the block 2 to 3 times, the gps has to recalibrate itself.

You are correct!

As soon as I took a spin around, I could set a destination and everything ok.

Zero some error msg in VCDS, and finished.

Thanks for your assistance B66B!

RE: Audi MMI 3G Map 6.35.1 8R0051884KB 2022-2023
Next time you acquire the knowledge beforehand, no matter what you want to do, then something like that probably won't happen again.

Note1: Never delete map database and partition!

Note2: The activation is always retained, it is only gone again if you update firmware again.

Note3: In the future, you can only install the next new map in user defined mode!

Note4: Never update Bose during a firmware update,  therefore it is always necessary to update a firmware in user defined mode, in order to exclude Bose. During firmware update by default it is not possible to exclude bose.
There is no access option.

Do you see that there are N at your map update selections ? N means NOT UPDATING... you have to make everything to Y to start the update.
