i have only one sdcard, Sandisk ultra 16gb. Can i update firmware first, use activator second and finally have maps on SDcard ?

You need 2 SD.
Update first Firmware (SD 16GB OK)
Then update the map with the SD (16 GB ok) and leave it in slot1, put the activator in another SD and drive it in slot 2 and start the Update

I managed to get extra card but I am having error. I have tried both cards, formatted with official SD formatter program.

It says,

Does the SD card with the map has to remain in SD1 slot while the script is inserted in SD2?
Or can the SD with the map be taken out, formatted and the FsC script copied on and inserted in SD1?

So in short, is it necessary to use 2 separate SD's?

Managed to update firmware but can't delete database from engineering mode. It says ' Script not found! '

My old maps were from DVD drive. I also have fault code 03175 invalid data record which can't be deleted.

In practice you have to do this;
Update the firmware (a microSD is fine too)
Update the map and keep the SD inserted in slot 1,
Copy the script to the SD card, when the new map is no longer displayed, it is inserted in slot 2 and "press any key to execute the script" will appear, and then you will see "script applied.press any key" and eject the sd card ", press the rotella and remove the SD card
Restart the MMI and the maps are active.

Yeah, it did that. I managed to clear fault codes by following page 40 trick from how to pdf. I reckon my map files are corrupted. Need to download again and checksum it.

Will try with another SD card.

For me, Yes.
