What can I do to install it, if ISTA-P was not installed but unpacked to C:\ISTA-P

Is it possible to create a registry entry to let the installer be able to find the installation? Or do I have to find an ISTA-P Installer and install it all over?

Do you have the rar. file on a extern HDD? Copy the RAR file to the PC and than unpack.

Which rar-file do you mean? The update or the original 3.58.0.500 rar file?

However, they are both on C, no external Hard Drive. Installing the update was tried from an unpacked folder on my desktop.

Sure any file is mod, you can check what file have problem in log.
but easy way, clean and reinstall 58.0 after apply 58.1

After all other suggestions failed(aborted) updating, I tried the reinstall of 58.0 then (without opening 58.0) updating to 58.1 directly, and installation SUCCEEDED!

Note: In my case I've been having to edit (using a program like SuperOrca ) the installer '.msi' file's minimum hardware requirements (HDD & Memory) as follows:

Required CPU speed of 3.5GHz to 1.7GHz
Required Memory of 3GB to 2GB

Under 'Properties' Category within the '.msi' installer file:
a. Edit 'MIN_CPU_CLOCK' from "3500" to "1700"
b. Edit 'MIN_MEMORY' from "3000" to "2000"

* For HDD requirements, I think it is a good idea to not edit the requirement (and prepare enough storage space) as it seems the installation process does use most of the 'required' space, not permanently, but during the installation process for shuffling files around.

Update: Oh, it's "istap" (crazy, got it on the 2nd guess! )

2. Is it [XP button] necessary to use(?) as the UI already indicates in red "Expert mode"?

I have the same issue -> I did not install 58.0 but unpacked it to D:/ISTAP. So the update exe file will not find the previous installation!
Isn't there a "rip" version of the 58.1 ?

Strange behavior I found on win7 64bit , if you double click on the installation file you get unsuccessful installation , if you right click on the installation file and select " INSTALL " then you get you successful installation , that was my case , i don't know about others
