Hello ,

trying to help a friend recovering his dead CIC , I read many people advising JTAG direct connection .

could someone please guide me to the diagram of the JTAG , maybe little hint to which software is used to access the main chip .

that's probably a very creative idea, I'm only afraid that they have wiped the information on the top of the chipset



but will try that .

In case you're still interested, here's what I found out.

On the jtag/debug connector, there is a serial RS232 port with 3.3V signaling. Looking at the CIC board (JTAG connector top left, SH7785 side), the 5th trace from left to right is the TX line. RX line is on the corresponding trace (mirror position) on the other side of the board. GND you can take from anywhere on the board.

Baudrate settings: 57600, 8,N,1.

You get some interesting output as the CiC is in the boot process. It helped me solve an issue with a restarting CiC (logo bootloop) that didn't respond on ethernet/MOST/K-CAN.

Putting RX line to GND while applying power to the CiC gets you in IPL prompt from which you can run different commands.

This was tried on an Exx series CiC.

black screen or restart with red screen?
