RE: There is an error in opening Odis 4.2.3
Hello, i don't know if is your case but in my case, with the odis 4.1.3 and 4.2.3, at first because i don't know how to install it, i installed first the last java from the java.com but after with the fails during open the program (same as yours) i realized that these programs came with the java installed, so is not necessary that you install java.
In fact i have formated the pc with w7 64 bits, install the odis 4.2.3 and i dont' install the java.
If you see inside the ODIS installation folder, you will see the java folder. i say that because one of the errors that i had with the java was that i installed the java 1.8.4 before the odis installation and is not necessary.
The proof is that when i runs odis, inside the programs options, don't remember where, i saw a option that say JAVA VERSION....... 1.8.4 u or something, that confirm what i say.

Now i run the program ok withouth having installed the java first.
But yes is necessary that the framework is updated ok.

i hope this help you and sorry for the billet smile

Thank for sharing your experience. I tried all kind of java version also without install java. I think my problem is framework issue! I tried with framework 3.6/4.5/4.6 and finally now I have installed framework 4.7. But any of these solve my Odis problem.Wich framework version do you use actually?

In My case I found problem in Environment Variable Path :

When is start chcecking line by line , I found My problem ( I marked red part this part ).
Best way to working with this is copy line to text editior , edit and paste modifited becouse sometimes this line is very very long :

Quote:"%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;c:\ediabas\bin;C:\EDIABAS\BIN\;C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath"
I changed it to :
Quote:"%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;c:\ediabas\bin;C:\EDIABAS\BIN\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Offboard_Diagnostic_Information_System_Service\jre\bin"

After this operation everything start ok.
