Increased battery discharge while connected to power source!!
Now how is that even possible!! F10 535i

I saw this increased battery discharge warning last week, one week after leaving car idle. I recharged battery and all was good after, not driven the car for one week since. Yesterday I was testing ista 4.08, connected a power maintainer and while doing my thing, "dong", increased battery discharge, that while connected to a 100Amp power source.

How is that even possible!! Cycled ignition and it was gone.

It seems I may have a serious problem, maybe with the JBBE module, I don't know. Will find some time to run through it with energy diagnosis procedure, though electrical diagnosis has never been my strong point.

Agree. My F11 gives all the time error code "battery dead, replace battery", but in the battery status diagnose it it is in good shape (starting capasity is qoute often close to 80%) and starting car even in minus degrees works perfectly.
My conclusion is that in F- series power management is maybe too complicated and You can have errors even everything is ok.
Also AGM batteries needs a bit higher voltage than 13,8V that my Maas power supply can produce, to charge.
What to do, no idea.speechless

Battery not even a month old. Its a din 100 but a registered it as agm 105. I think ill revert back to non AGM 90 in the battery registration. Car may be charging it wrong but i have not even done 500km on this battery.

If you have a normal lead acid battery 100Ah you need to code it as normal battery 90Ah. If it’s 100AGM you need to code it as 90AGM. if you don’t the car will charge it incorrectly and read the status incorrectly. If putting in generic battery size. Always code the nearest under what you actually have. Never over.

I think this is actually a firmware bug. I see that error quite a lot if the car is left on charge then the car woken (door opened) a few times. I think the power management is seeing excessive current flow (into the battery) when it's not expecting it and incorrectly categorises it as excessive discharge.

Now you are on to something!!!yesyesyes

Every time I have seen this error I must have had the charger on the car or something!! Rarely happens when I don't fiddle.

Thanks a lot. makes quite some sense. ill ignore it unless battery actually dies on me.

Question. If one connected a bridged KDCAN cable, what would happen? Seeing that terminal 7 is unused in the F series ODB. Is that correct? I accidentally attached a bridged cable and soon after got this battery discharge though I think that was just coincidence.

What's your production date? Early Fx cars will not accept the 105 AGM retro, bug in power management. Also did you check for draw with amp clamp. Had an F02 with a 265ma draw after shutdown, bad CON. Check your batt registration paying attention to DME/DDE ah. I'll post a screen shot in a minute

Its a 2010. Ill code it back to 90Ah lead acid, mine is 105 flooded cell so I think the 105agm registration will fry it.

Energy diagnosis showed a ridiculous 1000mA draw. Ill have sometime this weekend to attend to it. What is bad CON?

RE: Increased battery discharge while connected to power source!!
For the F series 13.8V is a little too low voltage,
At one time, on a low battery I had set this voltage to turn off the ignition because of the discharge of the battery.
Increasing to 14.8V and no such problem
BMW to the F series, G recommends 14.8V (without F80 Li-ion ,14V)
Series F, G or E series with AGM, (S1CCA AUTO START STOP FUNKTION), (S1CDA BRAKE ENERGY REGENERATION)
Phase intensive battery charging, voltage from 14.6 to 14.9V (engine braking weak battery after startup)
Voltage Support Phase (Acceleration Phase or Battery Charge Less than 13.8v and above)
There are also average values of 14V-14, V voltage used depending on the outside temperature and the battery charge level
therefore, sometimes the charger may occasionally indicate a low battery or turn off the ignition,

sorry for the weak english
