Sorry i didn't get it properly.Do you mean that after modifying the vmx file,one won't be able to copy paste virtual machine or VMware has changed something in their latest versions?Thanks.

After you modify vmx file VMware Tools will not work so you can´t copy and past files into VM. But you can add a folder from your pc into vm in settings and map it as network drive in guest system

The solution I mentioned earlier is causing VMware Tools to stop functioning, but the solution also works on Workstation 14.

Using this solution I now get another error was wondering if anyone had found a workaround?
When I start ODIS-E 7.2.2 I get this error:

Current Windows version "Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Server IA64" does not support!

The VM has Windows 7 32bit Home Basic installed.
I have tried with and without compatibility mode for Windows 7, Windows XP etc but they give an error about debugger being enabled...

I found the issue - ODIS E doesn't want to run under Windows 7 Home basic. Ran Anytime Upgrade to change to Professional and it works now

that is the easy way, but tools can also work in vm if u install them custom before making changes to vmx

@fantomel, could you please give some more information on this?
What custom install options do you chose?
I would really like to keep shared folder access while setting the monitor_control.restrict.backdoor to TRUE.
