Read/Write 512kb on Ms42
Hello guys!
I´m new to this programming stuff so I was hoping some kind person would help me a little so I can start using my e39 again. The thing is, my voltage regulator in the ECU has burnt so it has no connection with the throttlebody so the car wont run. I have ordered a used ECU which I need to virgininze, and so I have tried... I have been using Jmgarage (ALL the versions) with a K+DCAN Cable that worked with INPA, but I only get connection error: wrong echo bytes. Whatever I do I always get wrong echo bytes, changing the latency, COM ports, more and fewer -/+ cables to the ecu and so on. I have tried bench setup and in the car,no differense what so ever. Do you guys have any tips on what to do or is there any other software I can use? I feel so lost right now, please help (Sorry for my bad english) |

Are you applying ground to pin 24 of the memory chip to put ecu in boot mode?
You must put ecu in boot mode at time of power up. Try 1ms latency for the cable in device manager. If it still doesn't work, use a different cable. |

Yes, if this is the correct location: (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2017022...eb02f7.jpg) I´ve tried to ground bootpin 6 seconds then remove and connect, it didnt work. I´ve tried to ground bootpin until it gets a connection, which it never did. I´ve tried 1ms, 16ms, 150ms, nothing works. The cable works great with Inpa which I think is a little strange, but if I order a new one is there any one in particular you think I should get? |

I have 3 usb diagnostic cables that I rotate through with INPA, and only 1 consistently works with JMGarage. It's very picky about the cable.

Ebay. Chinese, clear body, green mainboard.
That or the famous bimmergeeks cable which has the updated ediabaslib firmware, which will not crash MSS60 or SMG modules. |

RE: Read/Write 512kb on Ms42
Another question.. Is there one type of OS that works better with jmgarage? At the moment Im using win 10 but is XP a better choice?

I have used windows 7 and windows 8.1, there shouldn't be a problem with Windows 10. You can attempt win7 compatibility, and as admin.
