RE: Upgrade N53 160kw to 200kw QUESTION
IMHO manifold or soft is the LEAST of your worries. First of all you will need a more powerful gearbox!!! Both manual and automatic. As you did not specify which you have.
In the case of a manual transmission a new rear axle drive too. Can be done but IMHO frankly much easier to buy 530. |

Externally they are similar, but inside everything is beefier for 530: torque converter, mechatronics, shafts, output... you name it. 525's box will hold for a while, but it's too puny to last long, especially on hard driving. |

RE: Upgrade N53 160kw to 200kw QUESTION
From engine and dme view, yes only difference is intake manifold and DME software power class. even all disa plugs you should have on 160kw
You can easly swap manifold but with dme will be chalanging. For DME you have two ways to go: 1. Reset working hours - then change powerclass 2. Dump 200kw software - swap ISN and woala. |

RE: Upgrade N53 160kw to 200kw QUESTION
I'm in the process to buy 325xi E9x. I know that there is two options:
1. Gas pedal to full upgrade only = s/w only 2. full 200kW conversion (intake + DISAs + s/w). I have only xprog and ISTA. My question: I'm keen to learn to do it bymyself. What is minium tools i need to have? Remember I have no intention to do any business with these or nothing? Where can I find instructions to do it? I have used BMW Tools for several years and ESYS in F- series, so I'm no completely newbie. |

I know that there is two options: 200kw manifold should have to be with DISAs on resonable price 150-200 eur used, all plugs on 160kw from factory should be in place. so basicly just intake manifold swap. s/w - i you are familiar with ISN change or working hour reset on MSD80/81 you can do it by your self. |
