There is another trick to trigger the CRC error and get into emergency. Just poke at the eMMC data lines and it will unmount, then SystemManager will eventually fail CRC check and unit will drop into emergency.
Certainly don't start writing a "good image" to the eMMC and destroy your persistence SLC partition. |

Yes, but do that in the first one min of boot, as if check passes it will not do second check.
There should be a way to hold some of the data lines low, this way no emmc. |

You only need to touch the CMD line and it will freak out enough. No need to short.
