I have plans to perform two engine ECU flash, I never flash engine ECU before and I'm wondering do I need to perform some task prior and after flashing in these two scenarios, for ex. adaptation, upload parameters and so on ?

1. Engine CAYB
I would like to downgrade SW version from 9978 to 9972 which is latest version before dieselgate.
It's allowed to downgrade (some ECU is damaged on downgrade) or it's better to go latest version after dieselgate 9983 ?
Current:
   Part No SW: 03L 906 023 LK    HW: 03L 906 023 LK
   Component: R4 1.6l TDI   H33 9978  


2.  Engine CZDA
Here is clear, upgrade engine ECU to latest version 7006
Current:
   Part No SW: 04E 906 027 LD    HW: 04E 907 309 BH
   Component: R4 1.4l TFS   H26 3433

as far as I know 99** is after dieselgate
so you need use really older SW
if your current ECU software is factory, after update , or downgrate , all will stay this same
but if is immo off, or Hot start fix for example, you will lost it

On both car software is from factory without modifications.
So, adaptation or base settings is not needed.
Just flash and everything should work even on downgrade ?

if everything works for you, save the coding in case some case is lost but as a general rule it is not lost

For engine CAYB no problem downgrade from dieselgate version 9978 to predieselgate version 9972.
But don`t forget remove black plastic restriction hose from airbox!!!

Hi, new to chiptuning but not generaly to cars.
Is there any fast and simple way to check for example the tuned files from tuner for sw version to compare the compability. For example i have a stage1 paid file and used it on a car but now have the same car again and would like to check is it safw to reuse or is a new files needed (ecu is same but sw version needs to be checked)

If they applied a diesel gate campaign, remember to remove the plastic piece they add to the air filter box.

I found some uncomplete info on internet that maybe is possible to flash this ECU (CAYB 90hp) to higher power CAYC (105hp) engine ?
If yes, which ECU file and version will be suitable and if someone have complete procedure for that ?

you have to disassemble the air filter, and remove the plastic piece that they have inserted, I would recommend you to put the original software update that is not modified
