I can change this code in SIM271DE20 without touch the eeprom.
Not sure if the trick work in other ecu.

RE: Upgrade W176 M270 MED40 from 122 hp to 156 hp
Not really because then checksum problem - change any of byte of the memory make that problem. But i'm close to the solution, now i discover that when erase memory or write with wrong checksum ecu stay in bootloader mode i have make some custom program , that is possible to change eprom data - no open ecu , so next step i update eprom data from A200 and works, so change software number to the software form 156 hp. After change bootloader to oryginal state and flash with software from A200 works fine. Problem what im solving now is checksum in eeprom calculation what im pretty close to solve it.

My final plan is to make simple script for Passthru to change software number and coding in epprom
then flash with original software but from 156 hp version.
I have try with modified CFF file but that solution not working good, always stay old software number in eeprom and of course software is nod valid in ECU parameter data ecu stay in bootloader mode.
I try to crack seed for ecu renew with bruce-force method problem is that before renew ecu we need to save all keys hash what is not possible because we don't have acces to eeprom data and we cant read and save keys. so this metod is not good. Or is good if we have online access in Xentry.

Need to clone from 156hp ecu,
something in eeprom restricted ecu to run if it is not 156hp.

It is not possible to get more horse power by changing the coding. But need new fw where the maps are!

Yes i know that that's why i change FW number in eprom to make possible update witch software from 156hp and don't have software invalid error. One thing left that's checksum .

RE: Upgrade W176 M270 MED40 from 122 hp to 156 hp
if the car dont have a ecu sw newer as 2015 then its possible to change that coding. i have allready some done from b180 to b200 and sw update was not needed sine the sw on the ecu was allready the same as the b200 one. some benz ecu are multimap and it selects the right one depending on coding like the med40. but after changing that coding make sure you have HU antitheft code because the HU wants it then because thinks its a different car.
