RE: DiagBox 8.01 Installation
Can someone please clarify these version numbers? Currently, when I open Diagbox on my laptop, I see v7.83. If I install v8.17, am I getting the newer version or I already have the latest?

RE: DiagBox 8.01 Installation
PSA did not introduce any update after for DiagBox v7 after 7.76, there was a small update (7.77) to close this chapter. At the same time, PSA was releasing DiagBox v8.

Review this:
https://cartechnology.co.uk/attachment.php?aid=18249

Now, the update releases for 7.65 and 8.01 were equal. But because DiagBox V8 was not usable at the time, its updates were used to continue with DiagBox 7 after 7.76, until it became too cumbersome since they have different engines (Java etc..).

While I ported 8.18 to DiagBox 7 and named it 7.83, I did not port it to DiagBox 8.xx and stopped at 8.17 because it was the last that I could bring out without changes to the original release.

That's to say, while there are many changes made to 7.xx structure. DiagBox 8.17 is all genuine original software with latest engines with only the activation ported from DiagBox 7 but without any change to the original code.

Thanks for detailed explanation. Is there any benefit for me to switch from v7 to v8?

RE: DiagBox 8.01 Installation
If you have an older PSA car that works with Lexia or PP2000, then yes, because I have ported the solutions up to DiagBox v8.55, which is the latest release in v8.

RE: DiagBox 8.01 Installation
If what you have installed works, then don't bother upgrading..
PSA had a site where you can see what was fixed in every upgrade, so you could check if upgrades are relevant to you car.

Regrettably this service is no longer available, this was the link:

RE: DiagBox 8.01 Installation
For reflashing you need a online connection to download the bsi configuration.
So yes, you need the official diagbox with an token.
Make an account in the servicebox, download diagbox, activate it with your account and buy a token.

You also need tokens from pinonline.net for the security (RMI Code) verification.
Or call the hotline and get the code.
But if you have no official permission, the hotline will not help you.

Or go to your dealer.

RE: DiagBox 8.01 Installation
I currently have the diabox v7.57, ao to update it I just need to do the following procedure? Do i need to replace the appdiag.sys where it says to inject the necessary files? Thank you

Quote: stalling DiagBox 8.01
1- Install DiagBox 7.01 and restart DiagBox to run update 7.02. Install update 7.xx-7.57 (this will create "C:\AWRoot\dtwr\cfg\Config.sys").
2- Install "VC++ 2008 Redistributable Package", a copy will be available in "C:\teleassistance\visualC\vcredist_x86.exe" after installing DiagBox.
3- Restart the computer and use “Kill_DiagBox_Tasks.bat” to stop related processes and rename "C:\AWRoot" to "C:\AWRoot7"
4- Run DiagBox 8.01 installation (it will uninstall v7.xx first) until it requests Activation. Close it (X) and run the tool "AWRoot_v7_Conf+Ativation_v8.exe" it will copy configuration from "C:\AWRoot7\.." and inject the necessary files.
5- Run DiagBox again, it should continue the installation successfully.

RE: DiagBox 8.01 Installation
If you follow the procedure, the tools will copy the necessary files to their new destinations.
However, there is no harm in you taking extra care and making a backup copy.
