RE: DiagBox 8.01 Installation
Start with the activator and the cache restorer.
- Notice that the activator copies some files (stored within) to DiagBox 8 and copies other files from (your) DiagBox 7 installation. That's because some files are needed and common to every installation and others are specific to your installation and hold your profile and computer info. - Every time you get it wrong, the cache contents get deleted, and when you replenish the 13 files, DiagBox populates the rest on starting. The main files necessary for your changes are in C:\AWRoot sub-folders. These files are necessary for the correct running of your DiagBox, (of course PSA can decide to change that at any stage to prevent proper running of hacked system). C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\actialc.dll C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\AWCore_vc80.dll C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\AWCtxt_vc80.dll C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\AWFInterpreter_vc80.exe C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\fr.actia.AWF.tags.core_vc80.dll C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\Version.ini C:\AWRoot\dtrd\tree\Menu0000.s C:\AWRoot\dtrd\tree\script_vcistate.s C:\AWRoot\dtwr\cfg\config.sys The "AWFInterpreter_vc80.exe" is important and PSA seems to updated every now and then, the three other DLLs are also related, try playing with them to find what needs to be done. These configuration files are copied from (your) DiagBox installations to your new one, the need for a previous 7.45+ installation is that "C:\AWRoot\dtwr\cfg\config.sys" is created in installations later than 7.45 (if you check 7.02 you will find it does not exist). C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\APPDIAG.SYS C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\cfg.bin C:\AWRoot\dtwr\cfg\config.sys C:\AWRoot\dtwr\cfg\infopds.xml C:\AWRoot\dtwr\cfg\infopvn.ini You may need to install from the beginning 7.01 take copies of the above mentioned files then perform updates and take copies naming them relatively (like: "fr.actia.AWF.tags.core_vc80-701.dll" and "fr.actia.AWF.tags.core_vc80-757.dll" and "fr.actia.AWF.tags.core_vc80-762.dll"... etc) Now, you may have crashes or failures due to new files inserted somewhere, you need to be able to trace them and find whether you need to eliminate them or change them. Every time this happens, check and replenish your cache folder as necessary. "C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\bndl" is also a folder of interest, what goes in here can cause crashes at startup. This is NOT easy, it is tiiiiiiiime consuming, and I believe it would be easier to hack the profile. try intercepting the communication between DiagBox and PSA server and check what is it looking for to activate DiagBox 8 (regrettably, I don’t have a user and password). Notice: 1- Start with DiagBox 7.xx (not v8) and try to add update-8.20 to 7.83 such that you have 7.84 (as far as I remember, I had that initially working but there was so much change that I scrapped it). Updates 8.21 (7.85) and 8.22 (7.86) will install without any change needed. 2- You will discover that PSA added more tricks in files other than the above mentioned every few updates, they also need to be found and tackled. 3- Work with a Virtual Machine and take snapshots to preserve your work, other wise the exercise will become even more tiiiiiiiiiiime consuming. Good luck, Simple (not really!). Use the attached batch file to speedily kill DiagBox tasks. First post updated again.. |
