How do you actually generate checkdigit and FP?

You don't need to calculate FP.
You can use NCS Expert to calculate checkdigit.
Load profile->Press F1 -> Press F2(Enter FA) -> Choose E89 (works also for Fxx)->Enter Vin -> check calculate checksum -> Press OK. You can see the checkdigit in the main window behind your Vin.

Also, by any chance do you know what software to use to create activation certificate for CCC navigation? For some reason my BMW CCC unit asked for activation code while updating through ISTA-P. I think it needs .der, .fsc and .xml.

For cars made up to march 2007 there is a dvd containing all certificates. For later cars you need access to ASAP. What is the VIN of your car?

Have you got any link for DVD? My one is 2009, YZC729 has shared the certificate with me already, thanks! But would be good to have the DVD even for up to 2007 just for future back up.

E90, infact it appears in post number 5 of this thread, i have seen it a few times on E90 and E87,88 etc .

It looks like it describes whether the car is an 03/07 onwards car when diagnostics moved from K line/bus to D Can.
The option might be for some models where K line continued, so it is a note for diagnostics to use K line.
