can this only be done for Head Units from factory, or is it also available for retrofitted head units?

Someone to explain how to use this FSC codes, I want to unlock my DVD on E71 and I have FSC but I don't know how to use.
When update Navigation I know how, USB Stick in port and type FSC, but how to do with Video?
