1. Which console ? Martech ? Putty ?

2. Beside ordering components from ebay and making a cable for connection to MMi unit, where can i order one ready to run ?

3. Can it be written as jtag ? Or direct writing a ( dump ) *.bin file to a memory ?

4. in either case, where can i download software ? What format is firmware ?

If cannot write here all info, please link some threads where to get these details.

First time:
user definied mode + ignore variant in green menu -> without reboot to red update menu -> Userdefinied -> mark everything with MU in Front like MuTnrRef MuINIC and so on... when you marked everything with MU in front, then start the update (dont look for MU9411 ... only flash the others) - if version is same it doesn't matter mark it!

After Update it will tell you that MU9411 is not reach-/startable don't get in panic press something like cancel and finish the update.

Second Time:
user definied mode + ignore variant in green menu -> without reboot to red update menu -> Userdefinied -> now you must have there a MU9498 ... go inside and mark everything, then start the update! After that you must have the right unit again for AU3G Unit.

I've done this many times.
PS: Use original Metafile, don't mess with it and don't change something!

special thanks @PopDog. one good professional who saved the day. used stock meta and everything is back to normal, a full working unit and all buttons got their functions back. no disassembly, no cable, no special firmware and software.

i have made the same mistake, i did load the correct firmware again, but i don't have all the correct screens. like the car menu, there is no picture of the car and no text. in most other menues there is text, but it seems like the pictures of the car are still missing.

this is after changing regio from us to eu and loading the wrong firmware :-/ (i did change the language part in the eeprom, like i did before many times)

Flashed trough Emergency update HN+R instead of HN+ firmware.
So now unit thinks it is 9411, and not 9498 like should be.
BIG problem - I can't find combination for green menu now.
Car is US Q7 FL.
CAR button now is TEL and vise versa.
It is the same with MENU and TONE.

Now TEL +BACK brings red Engeenering menu, but I can't get to green menu
I tried with every combination of TEL +X.

Any idea?

It wasn't re-disabled
I mean once enabled it already was enabled - checked this trough VCDS.

Anyway - found it.
It was now MENU +TEL which is something like TONE +CAR like buttons functions.
