Heatsinks help to minimise excess heat. Memory modules are given 5V but work with 3.3V. the excess voltage is converted to heat.

Ok got it, I did have it connected for one hour yesterday, and the box was not even slightly warm during that prosess. On that note, no issues whatsoever so fare.

You have to measure memory modules temperature/heat.

If you have skill to replace ICs ==> Purchase one having good MCU(Infenion), good case, good connectors.
If you don't have skill to replace ICs ==> Find a local repair technician who can do the work for you.

Leave the fake OKI and AU5780. Don't waste time on them. It's discontinued and not needed. Order the other parts from a trusted distributor, not from aliexpress. Do rework (ref the previous postings).

RE: Good or Bad Vas5054A
The question is. Should we or should we not buy clones which need rework. There are so many parts that are not comformant to the original that we have to become experts in soldering. Not to mention the imperfection with bluetooth, or clone serial number which is blocked.

Retrofitters, Garage level experts, car electricians definetely would not buy a clone but starting level would be a genuine vas5054a - second hand.

Then there are alternatives VCDs and VCP original diagnostics.

My experience with clone usage was for a test medium use, or an introduction to the originals. Then other factors become important as time progresses. There is nothing better than the original diagnostics.

Cost:
VCDs 250-280 Euros 3 vin
VCP 250-300 Euros
VAS5054a second hand genuine 250-300 Euros.

I'm all for going with legit tools, but as a hobbiest, I simply cannot justify spending 2K plus!

VCP looks like a good compromise, can anybody give an opinion?

Thanks

Also a hobbiest, started with testing clones and now have VCP AND VCDS original tools and VAS5054A in a few days.

1. VCDs is best for enthusiasts and retrofitters. Can do everything apart from firmware flash, removal of CP. Not a dealer tool
2. VCP can do coding though sometimes descriptions are missing. Can firmware flash. Cannot remove CP. Not a dealer tool. Has advanced features example can add keyless entry parameter to comfort unit., VIM, and others which I have not used.
3.VAS5054a. Is the dealer tool. Can firmware flash with odis-e or with svm with odis-s online. Can remove CP with Team viewer, and someone who offers this service. With odis-s you can do step by step calibrations or learining key online. Coding can be done manually but has no descriptions if you do not connect online with a dealer service provider.

The way I see it you need VCDs as the first tool. Then for advanced features you need VCP, e.g. firmware flash, If you want to remove CP then you need Vas5054a. original vas5054a can firmware flash faster than VCP, if firmware size is 2Mb or larger then you will notice the difference. e.g. flashing radio concert (>3mb file size) with VCP lasted for about 3.5 hours.

My 5054 does not work and the lights do not flash. Do you have any in-depth study of the exchange experience of the PCB board? Who can find the internal circuit diagram of 5054? Thank you
