It works like a charm on my retrofitted CIC, X5 2008.
Only had a small issue with entering 1B certificate(FSTool was throwing error 7009), but after updating EDIABAS with Dr.Gini's files, as it is described in this thread, all went well.

My FStools is everytime throwing error that the sig cert cannot be stored. I used the sig cert from the archive. This one is everytime rejected.

Quick question

I bought a cic from ebay that was already retrofitted into a car before I bought it.

If I use this patcher will it remove the activation method the previous owner used so I can then start from the beginning?

Few questions as I"m about to undertake this with the plans to retrofit a Combox.

Caveat - I already cloned my CIC HD to an SSD and I can access all files on the HD Via QNX

1. After I Patch, can I just edit the VIN on the FSC Files in a hex editor as opposed to FStool?
2. Assuming I edit the VIN and add my own VIN to the FSC Files, can I just copy them over to the Hard Drive as opposed to using FStool to load them? Same for the Certs, can I load the files by copy and paste via QNX?
3. If the above can be done, what partition or path would I load these files?

no, this is not possible.
the FSC in addition to the change vin must be signed. and for the insertion it is necessary to validate the certificates, otherwise they are rejected.
