RE: ICOM A1 & A2 Quality (NEW PCB PICTURES!)
No, this gel is only part of the transfer,
heat from the processor to the heat sink metal
which communicates with the aluminum housing
and further transfers the heat to the outside icom
ICOM A2 significantly better heat dissipation
And the gel itself is where it can dissipate heat into such a small space,
I A2 with a metal heat sink, such as an image and it also has a gel
the heat sink.
Purchase got better if it works icom on all busses
K-line
K-line + MOST
DCAN (KL15 ???)
DCAN + MOST
F-SERIES ETHERNET
This is the biggest issue, as sellers try to hide,
buy ICOM A2 with a metal heat sink, it is best

If my post helped you hit the thanks and reputation button!under

RE: ICOM A1 & A2 & NEXT Quality (NEW PCB PICTURES!)
Hello,

I have a A2+B+C clone that works perfectly. I have flashed a couple of E9x and E6x without a problem. Then I flashed a F10. The programming took more than 3 hours. After that, the SYSTEM light started flashing red. The log shows ECU FAN FAIL but as you all know the A2 has no FAN. I have since then used the ICOM for flashing another E90, took probably 1 hour, and everything works like before. I read on the internet, the ICOM can be tricked to think the FAN is working and the light will be green again.

Do you think that is a good solution and I can continue using the ICOM as before failproof?

RE: ICOM A1 & A2 & NEXT Quality (NEW PCB PICTURES!)
Mine did this and after a while I lost ethernet. Soon it started loosing connection and eventually just went dead. I could still see IP address but could not connect. Red flashing system LED

Attempted to repair it and things just went south. I think it got damaged by heat since I was doing an E65 and used the ICOM in the engine area then in the next connection I noticed the red LED.

After two more clones that did not work I have now ordered a genuine next. The amount of money I wasted chasing after clones should have been well spent on an original. Never again. Strangely the old clone was similar to yours, worked 100%. I don't know why those cloners stopped doing proper equipment.

One of the clones I have shows 2v in KL15, the other used so show ethernet in configuration page though would indicate no ECUs connected, I could never connect ISTAP so I guess it was a faulty ethernet.

I would still be happy to try repair them just for the heck of it, If I could get a circuit board diagram.

RE: ICOM A1 & A2 & NEXT Quality (NEW PCB PICTURES!)
Like many others here, I have had a couple of clones. They all failed in fairly short order. I only run genuine hardware now. A genuine NEXT can be had for under $700. I wish I just saved the money I spent on clones and just bought a genuine NEXT in the first place. I'm very happy now, everything works like it should and programming isn't stressful anymore
