If someone goes this car to any shop tha thas connection to BMW servers (not only BMW dealers, free agents also) and do Service History update, EVERY data will be wanished from service history screen. Then it will automatically download complete service history form Munich to car. That happens in every time some service is made in shop. So it does not AD anything, it allways completely first delete (also some own crakings) and then write the whole book from Munich again. The whole system is very good. You don't have to be offical BMW shop to do service markings. Any shop can do those for free. |

RE: CIC / NBT service history
I concur with that. Any independent shop (at least in EU) can do that and also check history in official database. So all these hacks are for idiots.

RE: CIC / NBT service history
Elementary: register your workshop as independent one in aos.bmwgroup.com. Access to service history for view and manual update is free. You can also then buy ICOMs, key readers and other stuff officially.
Access to ISTA-D, ISTA-P, KDS, TIS, Key reading and other stuff is 6€ per hour. For longer periods an hour gets cheaper. The only drawback is that you get online versions of those things. P.S. be prepared to provide documents, that you are really a workshop and not a guy just wanting access |

Eg two days ago, Ista told me that there was no service history to that car (100% there was). Super, the service history from the car was vanished. Next day an other try: This time Ista was happy with München and service book was succesfully written to car It took more time to update service book than do the actual job = brake fluid service You don't believe how bad this was about two years ago. Sometimes Ista didn't write anything at all. Sometimes first you must flash the car and later update Your Ista. Then, if You were lucky, service book was succesfully written. Fortunately today, system works about 95% at a first try. I hope, that in the future Connected Drive eg manages the whole thing. |

RE: CIC / NBT service history
@jaki, do you use an online version of ista , or what do you have to use .Or do you need an offline install with air etc, or can you use standalone too?

RE: CIC / NBT service history
You can't use standalone. There is a special install provided which installs part of ISTA locally (a bit older version usually, currently at 4.06.33), but it must be started from internet explorer in order to get online connection. Dabatases and other things remain remote. Workshop information system (which includes more service data than free one, repair instructions, KSD and so on) is totally online (and can be paid separately 270€ for a year). I don't know what AIR is for, but I guess WIS is something similar.
P.S. It is possible to have standalone and that one on the same computer, just need to have two registry copies for one and another. However you can't have virtualization enabled for that online one so no virtual machines allowed. |
