After managing to make back up camera proximity distance graphics to display on screen when reversing on a non mmi B8 (RS-1103M third party back up camera plus original PDC with 8 sensors graphical support) I have decided not to upgrade my gateway. Gateway 0121 update was successful but did not solve my problem so I did more tests on 3 canbus groups. As a result, the problem was not gateway but the way Audi have connected PDC to canbus and steering angle to canbus which are not on the same group.

steering angle is on convenience canbus (working with cable supplied)
PDC is on infotainment canbus. (Not working with cable supplied)

if you use the hvac harness (new plug and play harness) one has to cut canbus cables and connect them to infotainment canbus cables however downside steering angle will not display on screen. I will upload a picture to help some people with same issue. So now when reversing I have backup image and small car overlay image with radar distance graphics displaying on screen, but lost dynamic steering angle and guideline graphics which are of secondary importance to me. Tap to pin 8 can-l and pin 18 can-h from gateway. Note I have connected with another way to canbus beige plug so there are 2 ways.
       
Not sure what happens if both canbus cables from infotainment and convenience (can-h 2 cables and can-l 2 cables) are connected together. I did not want to mix the canbus groups so I did not carry out such procedure which may get me into trouble, or may not .

Did you try to code yours controlers with the function after this retrofit ?
I think there is a coding not adapted who make guideline out ...

This chinese back up camera control unit cannot be coded, image or guidelines cannot be calibrated. Gateway does not recognise it. It is passive.

With B8.5 Audi added the PDC on electrical control module and this back up camera works fine with all features supported. Only B8 models have this canbus problem.

Camera interface has 4 empty pin spots so maybe 2 more canbus cables can be added but I do not have their pin diagram./schematics and manufacturer does not send me the schematics of the 8 pin connector (only need the 4 empty ones)

Pin 4 Ground
Pin 5-8 empty

But if I say not error the MMI must be code with the function guideline PDC...(I say it by my memory)
I think there is may be coding on the radio concert ??

Thanks I tried all the long coding options available on radio concert. I even tried the mmi back up camera procedure, and it was a failure.

As I said there is a guideline capability in different canbus group. If I connect interface can to orange green (can-h) orange brown (can l) on canbus then I have guidelines and dynamic lines working but no graphical distance radar image.

If it is a coding change then it should be on adaptation (radio concert) but I cannot find it.


Radio concert I dont think it ever came with a back up camera support from the manufacturer because on monitor there is no such video in support. We use a special harness for back up camera support and this is a china made technology .

Not even Kufatec or K-electronics have such interfaces for non mmi.

Chinese manufacturer did not manage to get the graphical radar distance image to display on the screen. For this reason they sent me a different interface to test, which also failed (but they do not send me the connector schematics, go figure ). Then I changed canbus groups and voila graphical distance sensor radar image worked but I lost guidelines and dynamic lines.

If you have an adaptation coding I will be happy to try it.

I did not try to tap to gateway (pins 8 and 18) to see if there is a different result than canbus beige connector (I believe it is he same thing) and I did no try to connect directly to PDC can cables in the boot which might be the last hope.

In flashdaten there is an Audi B8 J533 gateway firmware 8T0907468___0121.sgo.

I was not able to find the TPI that refers to this firmware. Only have read the TPI which refers to gateway firmware 0120. My gateway was flashed by Audi to firmware 0120.

Anyone who has flashed his gateway with this newer firmware or has more information about gateway firmware 0121, or a TPI reference number?

CP can be removed. The problem might come from parametrization i.e. channel parameters/values which may differ thus no info of choice.

On line system will not be able to parametrize the gateway, only manually can be done thus we may face a problem if channel parameters are different than prefacelift.

I have successfully parametrize manually the extended gateway of B8 8T but never tried 8R. I have a facelift gateway new in box but not tested if it will work. For extended can gateway B8, what I did was to copy parameters from original gateway to the extended can gateway. Then remove CP. I did not parametrize Ext Can gateway online.

Was thinking in terms of enabling Audi Drive Select Facelift, but I would think that ADS switch, radio and gateway need to be changed in order to get this functionality. That was the original intention. Never tested because I had second thoughts.

Also tested to get facelift HVAC to work with my B8, but was getting Radio firmware incompatible message. Also HVAC facelift has a channel parameter disabled affecting a/c, thus not a good idea to change HVAC to facelift.

now to firmware 0121. I never found the TPI but it has to do I believe with bluetooth telephone long names problem.
