As I cannot find any USB stick that would work with my friend's BMW and copie_scr.sh, could someone with access to ASAP generate me an FSC for VIN C144776 - thanks!

USB method works only on e series car. If your friends car is F series, you need ENET cable at least (10$, or you can do it by yourself). If you will have ENET I can help you. For e series you need K+DCAN (15$) Or you can have ICOM (200$) for both series. If you will have any of this, you will can coding, programming and diagnostic on BMW.

No i think that is not true since i used it with F-series also.

The file only works with CIC systems after mid 2009. Doesn't matter what car. Just checked the C144776 VIN and the car is a e60 of 06/2009, so I think you're just not lucky and have to use a k+dcan or icom cable

As bumba007 already stated, the car is E61 and thus ENET cable cannot be used even though I do have one. I have K-DCAN cable as well for diagnostics and coding for Exx series but as far as I know, it cannot be used to access CIC and to extract 1B file from it but instead this should be done by using this copie_scr.sh file or USB-RJ45 network adapter that's based on ASIX AX88772A chipset, am I wrong? If K-DCAN can be used in this case, kindly let me know how and I'll try it.
