Just a heads up, Fredrick, on the M266 engines, and also M271, timing fault does NOT always throw a fault code! We had a B245 turbo that only threw misfiring codes, but the actual cause was a long chain.

Also, fyi, the L5 sensor = Crankshaft sensor, and this usually throws a
code if faulty.

Timing fault could be easily found by scoping the crank and cam sensors with picoscope and see if the signal pattern match.
crack in the valve body unfortunately cant be seen so easy atleast not until is out of the box and examine.
anyway good luck with this problem Fredrick.

I have opened the gearbox. The valve body is intact. However, there is a loose part of the gearbox. Please look at the attached photo and advise.

Is it supposed to behave that way?

Hi, yes that is the oil pump, it suppose to move its bolted to the bxx on rubber bushes. once you put back the valve body is bolted to the body itself.

@prospeed, I am still struggling with this car. I think I will just sell it.

One last shot. I thought the issue being valve body solenoid. This box has four solenoids, three with black cover and one with blue cover. The blue one seems not to close well once manually connected to the battery. Could this be the issue?

Its possible yes, but usually if you’ve got pressure problem, fault code should be present and as far as I remember you said no fault is shown at all.
Plug MB Star again and go through the live data and compare the actual and reference values, clear the addaptation (if you haven't already) and go for test drive.

Also, if you haven't put the box together, can you take few pictures of the cvt discs surface, both discs where the chain slides, or just check the discs if they are smooth or have some groves and marks ?

@prospeed. I have finally managed to fix this car. The issue was three solenoids. The solenoids where not closing completely. I have replaced the three and the car is up and running.

I think the main culprit was toque converter lockup clutch solenoid valve.

Thank you all who troubleshooted this. [Image: 39eef1cbd8eefed33d0bf519e61b315e.jpg]
